Melting scope description
Ask the bidder to identify whether a melting stage is included in its proposed scope. Provide the starting material description needed for that discussion.
Use melting scope questionnaire to name the proposed stages in sequence and show where the requested project scope starts and ends. Ask the supplier to explain unfamiliar stage labels against that sequence. Identify the material entering and leaving the proposed scope, then compare the explanation with the equipment schedule so that your engineering team can assess the same proposed arrangement across all project documents. Ask for the stage names in the diagram and the equipment schedule to be cross referenced where different labels are used for the same proposed scope.
Casting stage description
Request a separate description of the proposed casting stage and its input. Ask for a diagram relating it to adjacent stages.
Use casting stage diagram to name the proposed stages in sequence and show where the requested project scope starts and ends.
Stage terminology questions
Collect process terms that require clarification and ask the supplier to explain them against its proposed block diagram. Keep the explanation with the project response.
Build process terminology register around the actual product labels appearing in the enquiry and supplier response. Ask what each label describes and which purchasing item it addresses. Keep questions about naming separate from questions about product suitability, and have the responsible engineer assess the proposed documents before deciding how the final item description should read in the purchase request. Request a written explanation of any proposed change in terminology so that the item schedule does not silently adopt a different product description.
Material transfer boundary
Mark where responsibility for material changes between proposed stages and existing facilities. Ask for drawings identifying the relevant transfer interfaces.
In material transfer map, identify what lies inside the proposed package and what belongs to the existing project. Name the owner of each side of the connection and the drawing each owner needs to review. Ask the bidder to mark the proposed interface clearly, then have the responsible engineer compare that response with the actual host or adjacent equipment documents used for the enquiry. Request identification of the document defining the existing connection as well as the drawing describing the proposed side of the interface.
Utility scope review
Provide the utility information available for the site and request the proposed requirements by stage. Assign each question to the responsible engineering reviewer.
Use stage utility schedule to identify each proposed site connection and the party responsible for reviewing it. Ask the bidder to relate its utility description to the equipment configuration in the quotation. Provide the site records your engineering team has approved for release, then request clarification wherever the proposed connection description requires information that the site team has yet to confirm. Request the name of the drawing or schedule that defines the proposed connection, together with the project role responsible for assessing it.
Combined package approval
Ask for an equipment schedule showing the agreed stage boundaries. Resolve differences between narrative descriptions and drawings before approving the RFQ scope.
For combined equipment scope, identify the requested items individually and describe the boundary of each item in plain language. Ask the bidder to mark the equipment or work addressed by its response and identify any requested element needing separate discussion. Keep the proposed scope connected to the project brief so that a price comparison relates to the same requested equipment or work. Request separate identification of requested items that remain open for discussion so that they can be reviewed without obscuring the proposed inclusions.
